Renowned chess master Tunde Onakoya has set his sights on breaking the Guinness World Record for the longest chess marathon, aiming to play for an astounding 58 hours without losing a game. Onakoya, known for his efforts in teaching chess to children across Africa, announced his ambitious plan on his social media platform, X, on Friday, April 13th, 2024.


The marathon game is scheduled to commence on April 17th at 10 a.m. in the iconic Times Square, New York City, with Onakoya intending to continue playing until April 19th at 8 p.m. His motivation for undertaking this challenge extends beyond personal achievement; Onakoya aims to inspire children in Africa, particularly those lacking access to quality education, by demonstrating that they too can accomplish remarkable feats through determination and perseverance.


Onakoya's initiative has garnered widespread support, particularly from his fellow Nigerians, who have consistently stood by him throughout his endeavors. With the backing of his community, Onakoya believes they can collectively showcase their capabilities to the world.
